Safety has a high strategic importance for Neste and our systematic work for developing the safety performance continue everyday.

Our purpose at Neste is to create a healthier planet for our children.  We are already today decarbonizing aviation with the renewable jet fuel and helping our customers in the road transportation to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions with our renewable diesel. We are a forerunner in developing renewable and circular solutions for the polymers and chemicals industries. Our entire personnel is actively implementing Neste´s strategy to support the  purpose. The hard work has brought significant results as we have been placed the 3rd most sustainable company in the world.

Safety is in the core of Neste personnel.  Our people have made a systematic development leap in safety during the past years. Few weeks ago, the European Chemical Industries Council (Cefic) awarded Neste with 2019 Responsible Care Award of Sustainable Workplace. Sustainable company, sustainable workplace
– I couldn’t be more proud of the efforts of our people.

Safety has a high strategic importance for Neste and our systematic work for developing the safety performance continue everyday. Safety can only be secured by providing solid systems, tools, rules and practises with a healthy mixture of mindset, behavior and safe actions. In order to secure the positive continuity, we have many actions ongoing. They all support our safety mindset of continuous improvement: the development of process safety and competence as well as building the safety culture at Neste.

People continue to be in the key role on our safety improvement path.  Safe way of operating means that no short cuts are allowed as all accidents can be avoided. Neste people understand the hazards related to our operations and have excellent ways to evaluate and manage risks. Everyone of us contributes to the safety with our own decisions and daily actions. We need to earn our safe day again tomorrow.

We have challenged the entire organization to this work. Each team on all levels of the organization is currently renewing their own safety commitments, including our Executive Committee. I  believe that safe way of working on all levels can be achieved when everyone is truly committed to work professionally according to the common targets. This way we can achieve no harm, together.
