Neste will start producing renewable propane at a new unit being built at the Rotterdam refinery. Production is expected to start by the end of 2016, with an agreement to supply 160,000 tonnes to SHV Energy over a four-year period. The agreement is the first of its kind anywhere in the world.
Neste Renewable Propane is produced from renewable raw materials such as waste and residues
This makes it an even cleaner alternative to conventional propane, which already is one of the cleanest types of fossil fuels available.
The new unit will purify and separate renewable propane from the sidestream gases produced by the refinery. In use, Neste Renewable Propane is identical to conventional propane and therefore can easily be blended with conventional propane and used by all existing appliances suitable for use with propane.
