We aim to use energy, as well as other utilities, as efficiently as possible. Energy efficiency plays a key role in production and logistics in particular.
We always take into account energy efficiency when overhauling and replacing equipment and making new investments. We are also continuously seeking new ways of improving energy efficiency by modifying our operating methods.
Energy-saving target in production – 660 GWh less by 2016
We have signed the Finnish energy-intensive industry's Energy Efficiency Agreement and thus committed ourselves to the industry's energy efficiency program. The program aims to combat climate change in accordance with Finland's national climate and energy strategy. Our key target under the agreement is to reduce annual energy consumption by 660 GWh by 2016. The Energy Efficiency Agreement covers our refineries in Porvoo and Naantali and the terminals in Finland.
We are also pursuing energy savings in our service station network
Our service station networks in Finland, the Baltic countries, and Russia have their own energy efficiency targets. The program covering the stations in Finland aims to reduce the electricity consumption of station forecourts by 25% by 2020 compared to the level of 2007. We are seeking savings by, among other measures, are pursued by utilizing new lighting technology.
The aim of the energy efficiency program for the Baltic countries and Russian service stations is to reduce electricity consumption by 20% (6,800 MWh) compared to the level of 2010 by 2020.
Also, the tanker truck fueling stations and loads the trucks carry are designed to be as efficient as possible in terms of fuel consumption.
