Neste Oil again wins high ranking in the Forest Footprint Disclosure Report

Neste Oil has again been ranked among the world's top performers in terms of its forest footprint reporting in the Forest Footprint Disclosure (FFD) 2011 Report. Neste Oil was named the second-best company in the oil & gas sector in the latest FFD report after two years as the best.

"We are very satisfied with our ranking, which shows that we continue to be among the very best in our sector in terms of how we develop, monitor, and report on our supply chain," says Pekka Tuovinen, Neste Oil's Director, Sustainability and Supplier Compliance.

"Thanks to the unique system we use for managing our supply chain, we know the origin of the raw materials we use and can ensure that cultivating these products does not result in deforestation.

"Sustainable land use is a key issue in biofuel production, as traffic-related greenhouse gas emissions cannot be reduced by using raw materials sourced from land that has been cleared by felling rainforest or draining marshland."

The FFD project is an international initiative designed to evaluate how aware companies are of their forest footprint and the methods they use to reduce the size of their footprint. A total of 357 international companies were requested to disclose information in areas such as risk assessment and sustainable supply chain management for the FFD Report. The results were then assessed by a jury of supply and forest conservation experts.
