Neste Oil to revamp its service station network

Neste Oil has launched a project to revamp its Neste service station network in Finland. The project is intended to enhance the attractiveness of the network, provide motorists and other customers with a better retail experience, further enhance safety, and respond to a changing market. The company’s current station concepts dates from the early 1990s and do not completely meet the expectations of today’s customers. The update program will be implemented on a phased basis, between 2008 and 2010.

As part of the revamp, the network will be given an integrated Neste Oil brand. The revamp will also see modernization of station technical systems and software to provide even higher standards of safety and reliability.

Three concepts

In the future, Neste Oil’s station network will be based around three concepts: Neste Oil service stations, Neste Oil Express unmanned stations, and Neste Oil Truck outlets designed for trucks and commercial vehicles.

Neste Oil service stations will provide a broad product and service offering, with payment possible using cash or a variety of credit, debit, and customer cards. These outlets will also offer the full range of Neste Oil’s loyal customer program benefits. A total of around 350 Neste Oil service stations will be operational by the end of 2010.

Neste Oil Express outlets will be unmanned and will offer the most competitive prices on the market. Payment will be based on popular debit and credit cards, as well as Neste Oil cards. A total of around 150 Neste Oil Express outlets will be developed.

Neste Oil Truck outlets will target the truck and commercial vehicle market. They will offer primarily diesel fuel, and some outlets will also offer off-road diesel and AdBlue, a urea-based product designed to reduce truck emissions. Some of the around 300 Truck outlets planned will be located on the same sites as Neste Oil service stations and Neste Oil Express outlets, and some in terminal and port areas.

Timetable

The first Neste Oil Express outlets will be opened in Malminkartano and Oulunkylä in northern Helsinki on 30 November. In December, the revamp will extend to three outlets in Ii, Kitee, and Suutarila in Helsinki.
