Neste Oil's renewable aviation fuel to be featured at the Paris Air Show
Neste Oil is to take part in the Paris Air Show this June (20.6-26.6) to showcase its NExBTL renewable aviation fuel. Based on Neste Oil's proprietary technology, the fuel offers airlines an easy and highly effective solution for reducing their greenhouse gas emissions. NExBTL renewable aviation fuel meets the very stringent quality standards demanded for aviation use and is compatible with all existing aircraft engines. In addition, it can also be produced in industrial volumes.
"We are aiming for growth as a supplier of renewable aviation fuel, and the Paris Air Show is an excellent opportunity for us to showcase our pioneering technology in this area - technology that can help the airline industry get to grips with the climate challenge today," says Janne Mielck, Neste Oil's Vice President, Business Development.
Using NExBTL renewable aviation fuel helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions significantly, as well as other pollutants, such as SOx.
In June, the international standards body, ASTM, voted to approve renewable aviation fuels produced by hydrotreating bio-based feedstocks for use in air traffic. Neste Oil's NExBTL renewable aviation fuel, based on hydrotreating vegetable and waste oils, is one such fuel. Commercial flights with the fuel are due to start in the coming months when the ASTM's specification process for aviation biofuels is completed.
The Paris Air Show is the world's largest event of its kind and attracts the industry's leading companies and features the latest technological innovations in the field. Some 2,000 companies and organizations from around the world will exhibit at the event, and over 300,000 visitors are expected at this year's show.
