Neste once again listed among world's most sustainable businesses in the Global 100 list
For the tenth time, Neste has been chosen as one of the world's top 100 most sustainable corporations and included in the Global 100 list. In 2016, Neste ranked 39th on the list. Neste has made the list continuously for longer than any other energy company in the world.
BMW made it to the top of the list this year. In addition to Neste, the list includes 4 Finnish companies.
"We are very proud of our nearly decade-long success on the Global 100 list. Sustainability is a pivotal part of our strategy and is a fixed element of everything that we do. Sustainability assessments conducted by external parties are important for our operational development and they help us further improve our sustainability work", says Simo Honkanen, SVP, Sustainability and Public Affairs at Neste.
The Global 100 list is compiled by the independent consultancy Corporate Knights. The list is based on an extensive analysis of major listed corporations with market capitalization over USD2 billion. These are reviewed against a range of indicators covering areas such as greenhouse gas emissions, energy and water consumption, and the amount of waste they generate in relation to the financial benefit they produce. The safety performance, reward schemes, management, equality, investments in research and development, and taxes paid are also considered.
