Neste World RX of Latvia selected the best rallycross event in 2016

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) has selected Neste World RX of Latvia sponsored by Neste the best rallycross (RX) event in the World Rallycross Championship in 2016. The award was given to RA Events, the Latvian event organizer, for a successful organization at the FIA Off-road Commission gala in Portugal on 28-29 January 2017.

Neste World RX of Latvia was held in Riga, the capital of Latvia, in October 2016. It is a race of the world's best rallycross drivers, and it gathered an audience of 16,000 people on both days of the event.

"Motorsports are highly popular in Latvia, and the participation of two Latvian drivers in the World Championship has only raised the popularity even higher. Neste World RX of Latvia is Neste's largest customer event in Latvia with close to 200 customers being invited. We received excellent feedback. The Baltic Sea region is Neste's home market area and, therefore, very important to us," says Arttu Airiainen, General Manager at Neste Latvia.

"Neste has a long history as a sponsor of motorsports. Last year, we entered in a new area and, for the first time, sponsored Neste World RX of Latvia. We could not be any happier with the success of the event. It was professionally organized and the atmosphere was excellent. Sustainability and safety at events are prerequisites for us. That is why it is wonderful that Neste World RX of Latvia received this recognition for the safety of arrangements, among other things," says Sirpa Tuomi, Marketing Director at Neste.

Neste World RX of Latvia 2016 also won the main prize of the Riga Sports Laureate 2016 competition and received the Latvian Yearly Award in Sports as the best sports event in 2016. The next Neste World RX of Latvia will be held in Riga on 16-17 September 2017.
