Neste Oil’s products and services: naphtha and LPG

Borealis Polymers is based in the Kilpilahti industrial zone in Porvoo – home to the largest concentration of oil and chemical plants in the Nordic region – alongside Neste Oil’s Porvoo refinery.

Borealis sources naphtha, LPG, and other products from Neste Oil for its petrochemical plants. Following processing and polymerization, they end up in the polyolefins (polyethylene and polypropylene) that Borealis supplies to its customers. Around 70% of local polyolefins output goes for export. Borealis also produces a range of petrochemicals at its Porvoo site, including ethylene, propylene, phenol, and acetone.

Borealis products can be found in numerous everyday products, such as the coatings used in glossy paper grades, plastic piping, and cables, as well as food and pharmaceutical packaging. The advanced wire & cable grades produced at Porvoo protect cables in a wide range of different environments. Borealis-produced plastics also help make cars lighter by replacing more traditional materials.

Borealis produces for example plastic grains in its plants in Porvoo.
