Use of Neste MY Renewable Diesel at summer events in Finland reduced emissions by 24 flights around the world
The use of Neste MY Renewable Diesel™, produced entirely from waste and residues, reduced the amount of greenhouse gas emissions of Finnish summer events by around 65 tons. This figure corresponds with emissions caused by 24 round-the-world holiday flights for one person.
"It is great that more and more Finnish festivals and events want to be pioneers and pay more attention to the environment and climate. Neste MY Renewable Diesel helped summer events to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by as much as 90 percent compared with conventional fossil diesel. By using renewable diesel in electricity production, organizers can also offer more enjoyable events to their customers, as renewable diesel has much lower odor and particulate emissions than fossil diesel," says Kaisa Hietala, Executive Vice President, Renewable Products at Neste.
This summer, Neste MY Renewable Diesel was used in three different events in Finland. In July, it was used for electricity production at Tall Ships Races in Turku and Kotka, at Neste Rally Finland at the Neste MY Arena in Saalahti and on vehicles of the event organizer AKK-Motorsport, and at Weekend Festival in Helsinki in August.
